Light-Sheet Microscopy

Application Challenges

Light-sheet microscopy employs thin planar illumination to selectively excite fluorophores within the focal plane, enabling rapid, low-photodamage volumetric imaging. Its advantages include long-term live imaging and three-dimensional visualization of large specimens, making it widely used in studies of embryonic development, neural networks, and whole-organ imaging.

Light-sheet microscopy typically generates massive datasets over extended time periods, placing stringent demands on imaging hardware. Cameras must deliver high speed, Large FOV formats, and long-term stability. Furthermore, to maintain image quality under low excitation light conditions, high sensitivity and low noise are required to support high-throughput, long-duration, and dynamic biological observations.
